Discover Besalú
The town of Besalú is situated on an important and traditional crossroads in the east of La Garrotxa. Bisuldunum, its original name, was a fortress between two rivers: the Fluvià to the south and the Capellades to the north.
Besalú was an important independent county. Its historic-medieval art is considered as one of the best preserved in Catalonia. Part of this heritage can be seen in the old church of the monastery of Sant Pere from the XII century, which highlights the originality of its ambulatory, the church of San Vincente from the XII century, which retains a lateral gothic chapel dedicated to Vera Cruz, the facade of the old church of Sant Julia hospital, from the XII century, the house Cornellà Romanesque and the Gothic hall of la Curia real.
